After six years at Harrow Shenzhen, Sammy — who has always been fascinated by life's smallest mysteries — is now ready to pursue her dream of working in a laboratory to help shape the future of human health.

Sammy回忆到，她听得懂的多，但能输出的少之又少。

从“学习英语”到“通过英语学习”，哈罗深圳的资源给了Sammy一把钥匙，她用它打开了整个生命科学的大门。
Sammy提到她在校园大师课中与曼彻斯特大学微生物学教授讨论抗生素耐药性的话题。

“那是我上过**的生物课之一，教授从肠道微生物讲到结核病治疗，从抗生素历史聊到科研伦理。我突然意识到，医学不只是治病，更是解谜——解开生命为什么这样运行。”
同时，Sammy的卓越学术实力也在国际科学竞赛中大放异彩，荣获英国化学奥赛全球银奖、铜奖；澳大利亚化学奥赛Credit Award；英国物理奥林匹克铜奖等等。

Academic Journey: Unlocking the Door to Sciences Through English
When I first joined Harrow Shenzhen, my English was far from fluent.
Sammy recalls that she could understand more than she could speak.
However, the school's fully immersive English environment became a strong support system. From the EAL Programme to internationally experienced teachers with more than two decades of expertise, and from vibrant campus activities to hands‑on workshops at cutting‑edge tech companies and masterclasses with top university professors.
All these resources gave Sammy the key to transitioning from "learning English" to "learning through English".
Sammy particularly recalls a masterclass discussion with a microbiology professor from the University of Manchester on antibiotic resistance.

"That was one of the best biology lessons I've ever had. The professor guided us from gut microbes to tuberculosis treatment and from the history of antibiotics to research ethics. I suddenly realised that medicine is not just about curing diseases — it's about solving puzzles: understanding why life functions the way it does."
Sammy's academic excellence also stood out in international science competitions. She earned a Global Silver and Bronze in the UK Chemistry Olympiad, a Credit Award in the Australian Chemistry Olympiad, and a Bronze in the British Physics Olympiad, among others.

“我想在医学领域的实验室工作。我喜欢待在实验室的感觉——安静、专注、每一步都通向未知的答案。本科只是开始。我计划攻读研究生，深入研究，用知识填补未知，用科研回应病痛。“
她对生物医药的痴迷，源于对人类健康最前沿的追问：癌症为什么发生？细菌如何产生耐药性？基因编辑能否治愈遗传病？

The Application Journey:
Aspiring to Explore the Future of Health in the Lab
Sammy's dream has always been clear and firmly defined.
Sammy
"I want to work in a medical research lab. I love the atmosphere — quiet and focused, where every step leads to an unknown answer. An undergraduate degree is just the beginning. I intend to pursue postgraduate studies, delve deeper into research, bridge knowledge gaps, and respond to illness with science."
Her passion for Medical Biosciences comes from her curiosity about the most cutting‑edge questions in human health: Why does cancer occur? How do bacteria become drug‑resistant? Can gene editing be used to cure genetic diseases?
Harrow Shenzhen carefully laid every brick along her path: precise A‑level subject selections, intensive tutoring in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, face‑to‑face interactions with university professors, and a well‑prepared Plan B developed by the Harrow Shenzhen university guidance team.

"When my AS results didn't turn out as high as I’d hoped, Plan B gave me confidence instead of panic. It taught me that a dream requires not only passion but also rationality."

领航力之悟
我们如何赢得院舍歌唱大赛
如果学术是她向上的阶梯，领导力则是她向内的探索。
作为高年级院舍长，Sammy与前任院舍长搭档筹备年度院舍歌唱大赛。两个同样认真、同样追求**的人，为灯光角度争执，为歌曲顺序冷战，为道具摆放互不相让。

“那段时间，我们几乎不说话，一开口就是火药味。我感觉整个表演要垮了。”
转折发生在一个傍晚。他们面对面，把所有建议写在白板上，一条条分析利弊。争论依旧激烈，但多了“你觉得呢”、“我可以试试”。
Sammy
“最终，我们赢了那年院舍歌唱大赛。但比奖杯更珍贵的，是我学会了：分歧不是裂痕，而是更深理解的入口。当争论建立在尊重之上，它带来的结果，远比沉默更强大。”
她不再害怕发声，不再逃避冲突，而是把每一次争论变成团队的粘合剂。

Leadership Insight:
How We Won House Music
If academics were her ladder upward, leadership became her journey inward.
As a Senior House Captain, Sammy collaborated with a former House Captain to prepare for the annual House Music competition. They were both equally dedicated perfectionists who often argued over lighting angles. They gave each other the cold shoulder over song sequences and refused to compromise on prop placement.
Sammy
"For a while, we could hardly talk without tension. I felt as though the entire performance was unravelling."
The turning point came one evening. They sat down, wrote all the suggestions on a whiteboard, and went through the pros and cons point by point. The arguments were still intense, but they were now softened by phrases like "What do you think?" and "Let me try that."
Sammy
"In the end, we won the House Music competition that year. But what was more valuable than the trophy was what I learnt: disagreement isn’t a crack but a gateway to deeper understanding. When arguments are grounded in respect, they lead to outcomes far stronger than silence ever could."
Sammy no longer feared speaking up or avoided conflict. Instead, she turned every disagreement into the glue that held the team together.
